APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ)

APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) - formerly known as APMP,  is a comprehensive five-day course is based on the Association for Project Management’s Body of Knowledge 6th edition and covers the syllabus for the PMQ examination.

It is designed to improve the skills of project management staff to enable them, through good project management practice, to make sound business decisions and thereby manage their projects to a successful conclusion.

The examination will provide the delegate with an internationally recognised qualification.

The course builds on existing knowledge and experience and attendees will learn how to better plan, control and monitor their projects including risk and financial analysis together with reporting on progress. Interpersonal skills such as negotiation techniques and managing stakeholders are also covered. The course uses exercises to reinforce the learning.

Who should attend:

Work-package lead / managers, project office / coordinators, project or programme office managers, project managers and senior project managers. It is particularly useful for project managers who have not had any best practice training or would like to gain a formal qualification.

Duration: 5 days plus a minimum of 10 hours of pre-study.
Timings: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday; 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on Friday (including exam starting at 1.30 p.m.)
Examination: 3 hour written examination with an external invigilator.  The examination is held at the end of the course
Venues: Reading   for public scheduled courses.
For in-house single client courses this event is held at the client selected venue.

Course style: The course is tutor-led classroom style with participative exercises, case studies and revision questions.
Pre-requisites: Good project management basic skills or attendance on the APM PFQ course plus ideally a minimum of 6 months actual experience of working on a project. Provek also recommend that delegates undertake their free online Project Management Assessment (PMA6) in order to assess their readiness and suitability for the PMQ course and exam. This assessment identifies the delegate’s existing knowledge and experience and recommends the appropriate level of training required (www.provek.co.uk – Project Management Assessment).
Pre-course study:

Povek’s APM pre-study workbook and the Provek PMQ Book. The pre-study workbook provides the delegate with a structured plan for course preparation. Due to the intense nature of this course it is essential that the pre course is completed prior to attending the course.
