Nationwide Building Society is a British mutual financial institution, the seventh largest cooperative financial institution and the largest building society in the world with over 15 million members. Its headquarters are in Swindon, England.
Nationwide is the result of over a hundred mergers, the most notable of which are its merger with Anglia Building Society in 1987 and Portman Building Society in 2007. Owned by its members, Nationwide reinvest most of their profit.
Provek has worked with Nationwide since 2009 in supporting their project management professionals in training and development. This has ranged from Prince2 training, PFQ and PMQ training, MSP and online study options through Provek’s The PM Channel.
Nationwide run a graduate training programme each year, and in September 2019, recruited 11 graduates to study, learn and gain qualifications through the 2 year programme, alongside their challenging project roles.
Following introduction of the apprenticeship levy in May 2017, Nationwide approached Provek to explore using the Associate Project Manager apprenticeship programme to support their graduates. The blend of workshops, one-to-one coaching, self study and applied learning, along with achieving two highly respected qualifications, aligned incredibly well with the structure of the existing graduate programme. Nationwide continued to follow the 2 year duration but embedded Provek’s 13 month Associate Project Manager within this. It also allowed Nationwide to take advantage of using their levy to fund the majority of the training.
In September 2018 their new intake of eleven graduates started with Nationwide and the Associate Project Manager programme launched on the 22nd Jan.
