Katie O’Callaghan, a 16-year-old school pupil based near to Provek’s office in Thatcham, has committed to travel to Peru this summer with Camps International and Kennet School, as a volunteer to work on projects which will have a life changing impact on the local community.
In the four weeks that Katie will be there, she hopes to help make a huge difference by getting involved in improving school facilities, building greenhouses, improving sanitation facilities, tourism development and environmental reforestation projects that address habitat destruction, which will no doubt be a very challenging but rewarding experience.
To support her project work in Peru, Provek has provided Katie with free access to the APM Project Fundamentals qualification on line training course via The PM Channel.
The course covers a wide range of topics at a summary level, thus providing Katie with a broad understanding of best practice project management and the people skills required to successfully manage a project. We hope that this will support Katie in the projects she will be involved with in Peru, teaching her core skills that are essential in running successful projects.
Katie needs to raise £4,290, 36% of which will go directly towards the communities and projects.
