Provek has partnered with rail training specialist City & Guilds Training, to deliver APM PFQ, PMQ, PRINCE2® and AgilePM® Skills Bootcamps as part of a UK Government initiative to provide employers with the opportunity to support individuals to retrain, update or formalise their skills or acquire specialist skills.
The National Skills Fund will:
- fund 70% of the cost of upskilling the existing workforce across the variety of sectors for large employers*
- fund 90% of the cost of upskilling existing workforce for SME employers*
*Definition to qualify as an SME: employs less than 250 employees and annual turnover is under €50 million.
Individuals can enrol on scheduled open bootcamps, or organisations can run their own closed bootcamps (subject to meeting minimum cohort numbers).

APM PFQ Bootcamp
The City and Guilds/Provek APM PFQ bootcamp runs over 4 weeks where delegates complete circa 64 hours of study and workshop attendance. Delegates will be supported to achieve the APM PFQ professional qualification.
The bootcamp compromises of:
APM PFQ pre course study
- 7 hours of essential pre-course study, using Provek unique study resources including study book, videos and podcasts.
Module 1 – PFQ course
- 2 days of APM PFQ virtual tutor-led training.
Module 2 – Requirements Management
- 1 day of virtual tutor-led training.
- Identifying and agreeing clear, unambiguous requirements provides a foundation for the successful delivery of a project. This course covers the end to end process of requirements management from early identification and agreement of requirements through to sign-off and acceptance against requirements at the end of the project.
Module 3 – Change Management overview
- 1 day of virtual tutor-led training.
- Strategic change not only involves developing new ways of working but also hearts and minds of both leaders and staff. This workshop is designed to increase awareness of those involved is leading others through a process of organisational change at various levels and is based on a proven approach.
Module 4 – Agile overview
- 1 day of virtual tutor-led training.
- This workshop will provide a fundamental understanding of Agile project management and Agile thinking more generally. It is useful for those considering the appropriateness, and benefits, of transitioning to some form of Agile or hybrid project management methodology.
Module 5 – Soft Skills
- 2 days of virtual tutor-led training.
- The ‘soft skills’ required of a modern successful project manager are often under-estimated and under developed. For successful project delivery, it is essential that a project manager is well equipped with ‘soft skills’ capabilities as well as the expected technical skills. This workshop covers the key soft skill areas required for managing projects such as stakeholder and communication management, conflict management, negotiation, team work and leadership in a project environment.
Module 6 – Project Management Application
- 1 day of virtual tutor-led training.
- This workshop is facilitated by an expert project manager and will conclude with all participants reflecting on lessons learned from the course, with a view to application back in the workplace.
